06 May Time to Time
TIME TO TIME
By Justine Hrmnt
6 May 2019
In this solo exhibition, the visual artist Cherry Boonyapan is questioning time. The passage of time which disappears and diminishes year after year. The time which governs our lives and influences our attitude face to grief and absence.
Through pluridisciplinary artworks: jewelry, videos, installations and photographs the artist tries to express her vital need to escape to this time.
Thanks to simple objects, that she borrows to loved ones, she creates compositions, kind of still-life paintings that survives to the beloved one. This is not without remembering vanities, this famous pictorial gender from the baroque period which represents in an allegorical way the death and the passage of time.
Either in the treatment of her photographs or in hands poses of her models, everything seems to be stuck in a time borrowed to Italian Renaissance. It then continues in art pieces titles, written in Latin.
That is a great tribute, that doesn’t lose any of its contemporaneity, to discover until June the 1st at the ATTA Gallery.
